Steele County is located in eastern North Dakota. It was named for Edward H. Steele, a businessman.
The seat and largest city are both Finley. The county is rather rural.
Steele County borders Grand Forks, Traill, Cass, Barnes, Griggs and Nelson Counties.
Main highways through the county include ND-32, ND-38 and ND-200.
